Fandom as religion: A social-scientific assessment

My objective in this article is to outline both a conceptual and methodological reframing of the ‘fandom as religion’ comparison from social-scientific perspective. This familiar territory by now. It has survived decades because there are, fact, some striking similarities between fan devotion religious devotion. However, are lingering issues that continue hamper field. As result, I begin discussing these more detail highlight how they can be problematic. Next, discuss better conceptualized sacred rather than experience. Finally, suggest suitable methods for gathering first-hand data fans test association. On whole, believe will lead accurate understanding fandoms chart clearer path forward scholars
